Hints and tips to create more space in your black bin

Around 70% of household waste is recyclable, please use your new brown outdoor food bin and blue-lidded bin to recycle as much as possible. To recycle your garden waste, sign up to our chargeable garden waste service, use a home composter or take to your local Household Waste and Recycling Centre (HWRC).

If you think you will still create too much waste to fit into your black bin, you can:

  • take your waste to your local Household Waste and Recycling Centre (HWRC)

  • donate unwanted items, such as clothes and furniture to charity

  • book a bulky waste collection.

  • purchase excess waste or nappy sacks from the Town Hall or Wiggenhall depot

Please don't leave your waste:

  • outside your house for scrap metal collectors as this is illegal

  • on the street or by a litter bin as this is classed as fly tipping
